The Surrey Montessori Society
The Surrey Montessori Society (SMS) is a parent driven, non-profit society dedicated to meeting the needs of the Montessori community in Surrey. Formed in 1981, it is the founding organization of the public Surrey Montessori program. Comprised of parent and teacher members with a Board of Directors, it's continuing goal is to promote and support Montessori education. WHAT SMS DOES

Raise funds to support Montessori education: i.e. teacher training, bursaries, Montessori materials. |

Liaise with the Surrey School Board to help ensure the steady growth and integrity of the program. |

Liaise with local preschools to help ensure enrolment for the public and private Montessori elementary schools. |
|
Liaise between and offer support to all the Montessori elementary schools, especially the two public programs at Tynehead and Sunnyside elementary. |
|
Subsidize both teacher training and the purchase of Montessori classroom and resource materials. |
|
Organize and host special events, such as, parent workshops. |
|
Provide written and video resource materials for teachers and parents. |
|
Publish a newsletter which is distributed to all families attending Montessori schools throughout Surrey. |
YOU MAKE SMS SUCCEED
The SMS relies heavily on membership fees and donations to continue its work. The Surrey Montessori Society is a registered charity, so all donations are tax deductible. Over the years SMS has received over $500,000.00 in parent and community donations to help make the public Montessori program what it is today. Every little bit helps! Membership fees are as follows:
1 year - $10.00
5 years - $40.00
Lifetime membership - $100.00
Members are reminded that yearly memberships expire September 30 each year.
