District Montessori Advisory Committee Meeting

January 8, 2004 meeting highlights:

RE: Addition of Kindergarten to the Montessori Program

Motion moved, voted on and carried by Surrey School Board Trustees meeting - Dec 17th, 2003:

1)     THAT subject to sufficient enrolment numbers and available space, half-day Montessori Kindergarten be offered at both Montessori school locations commencing September 2004.

RE: Relocation of Tynehead Montessori program to 15225-98^th Avenue for Sept.2004

Motion moved, voted on and carried by Surrey School Board Trustees meeting - Dec 17th, 2003:

1)     THAT the Tynehead Montessori Program by relocated to the school site located at 15225-98^th Avenue for September 2004; and

     2)     THAT sufficient funding be in place to ensure that the transition is achieved in a satisfactory manner

3)     THAT the grounds and the buildings in the new location be beautified and any problem areas addressed; and

4)     THAT a transition committee of staff and parents be involved in steering the transition work.

Transition Committee to include:

          - Chair - S.Cohen (Director of Instruction, SD36);

          - K. Magnus (SD36 mgmt. & planning)

          - W. Morin (Tynehead Principal)

          - 2 teachers from Tynehead (1 primary/ 1 intermediate)

          - Tynehead PAC Executive (Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Past-Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer)

Name of school at new site: to be discussed at Transition Committee meeting (Jan.22)

Promotion of school at new site: to be discussed at Transition Committee mtg. (Jan.22)
